Scar Treatment
Our treatments can target discoloration and eventually fade the brown, red or purple color. In addition, if you have scars that appear as dents in the skin, our light treatments can build volume under the scar to “lift” the area and reduce the appearance of the scar.
Colored scars, acne and stretch marks can be treated with our Light Therapies. Successful treatments usually involve a combination of treatments.
Often we will use IPL and Laser Genesis for brown or red scars. Acne scars respond well to Laser Genesis and Smoothbeam.
What to Expect
During a scar treatment consultation, we will inspect the scar tissue and determine if we can make a difference in the appearance of your scars. If it is determined that treatment will be beneficial, we will put together a custom treatment package to achieve an improvement in the look of your skin.
To minimize scars, a series of 4 – 8 treatments is typically required. There is no down time and typically no discomfort during treatment. As with all laser and light treatments, you will want to avoid sunlight for a specified time after treatment.
Frequently Asked Questions
What do the treatments do?
How do I know what type of light or laser device I will need?
How many treatments will I need?
How long after the treatment will I be able to go out in public?
What are the side effects?
Usually, there are little to no side effects. However with any light treatment, occasionally there can be mild effects such as swelling, redness, and color change. Often we recommend a patch test to minimize these possibilities. During your consultation the physician will review your medical situation and monitor any issues that arise during treatments.
When will I see results?
Results vary by the type and depth of the scarring. Most patients will see significant results about 4-6 months after beginning treatments. Sometimes, improvements are noticed immediately. However the maximum improvement may not be seen until a month after your final treatments.
How much does the treatment cost?
Is there a charge for the initial consultation?
Initial consultations are complimentary. This gives both the client and the practitioner an opportunity to best determine what treatments would be beneficial, effective and practical.
