Laser Hair Removal
Lakewood Laser offers a variety of different hair removal options to stop or reduce the growth of unwanted hair. Our goal is to remove your hair in a safe manner, resulting in attractive permanent hair reduction.
Treatments
Laser Hair Removal is the most common cosmetic procedure performed on both men and women.
The process works by targeting the pigmented hair follicle with a beam of laser light. This light is absorbed, and the energy is transformed into heat, which can disable the follicle without damaging the surrounding skin.
In our clinic we use two different treatments for hair removal:
- GentleLASE Plus,
- Coolglide
With these treatments, we are able to treat all skin types. Each laser has a unique cooling system, which cools the upper layers of the skin. This provides increased comfort and protects the skin.
What to Expect
An initial consultation will determine if you are a good candidate for laser hair removal and determine if you might be at risk of hyperpigmentation from the treatment. During treatment, you may experience a stinging sensation or increased heat in the area being treated. After treatment, you may experience discomfort, redness, swelling or itching that can last for a few hours to a few days.
It is common to need more than one laser hair removal treatment. You will need to avoid sunlight while undergoing treatment and for at least 7 days after the final treatment. There is also a chance that the treatment may darken or lighten the skin. Exposure to sunlight after treatment can increase this chance.

Frequently Asked Questions
What areas of the body are treated with the laser?
What precautions should I take?
Avoid the sun 4-6 weeks before treatment. Avoid plucking or waxing hair 6 weeks prior to treatment. You should discuss your desired results and the improvements you expect to achieve. Together you and the consultant can decide if your expectations will be met and if the laser treatment is the best option.
Why should I choose laser hair removal?
How many treatments will I need?
Hair grows in cycles. The number of treatments required depends upon your skin, hair coloring and coarseness of the hair. Repeated sessions (an average of 6) will be necessary to treat these follicles when they re-enter the growth phase.
How much does the treatment cost?
Is there a charge for the initial consultation?
Initial consultations are complimentary. This gives both the client and the practitioner an opportunity to best determine what treatments would be beneficial, effective and practical.
