Acne Treatment

Many individuals do not respond adequately to traditional continuous acne treatments, including Accutane, topicals, and antibiotics. We now offer therapy that treats the various causes of acne. Often we will recommend using Smoothbeam laser treatments to achieve the best long term results.

Smoothbeam Treatments

The Smoothbeam laser targets the sebaceous glands and reduces the sebum production. This will inhibit the formation of acne pustules for an extended period of time.

What to Expect

Studies have shown that results can continue for 2 years and more. A dramatic, long lasting improvement can be achieved after 4 to 6 treatments.

Microdermabrasion is often performed prior to treatment to enhance the effectiveness of the laser. As with all laser treatments, you will want to avoid sun exposure for a specified time after each treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many laser treatments are required?

A series of treatments are recommended to get maximum results. Sometimes the best results are obtained with a combination of treatments. These are usually performed every 1 to 4 weeks. You will notice a gradual reduction in the number and severity of acne lesions over the course of treatment. During the complimentary consultation, we will discuss and determine which treatments and how many will give the best results within your budget.

How long will the results last?

Studies have shown that the improvement can be maintained for at least several months to 2 years after the series of laser/light treatments.

Should I continue to use my acne creams and medications?

Most over-the-counter and prescription creams and medications can be continued during the treatment. Our physician will personally evaluate and advise you on this.

Can the laser work on areas in addition to the face?

Yes, in addition to the face and neck, the laser has been used on the back area and could be used anywhere you have acne.

How will my face look after the treatment?

Immediately after the treatment, there will be mild redness and swelling in the area treated. This will subside in about one hour.

How much does the treatment cost?

Treatment costs vary. Please contact us for a free consultation.

Is there a charge for the initial consultation?

Initial consultations are complimentary. This gives both the client and the practitioner an opportunity to best determine what treatments would be beneficial, effective and practical.
