We hope you are enjoying your early summer! All this moisture is good for the skin, but not very helpful for golf, backyard barbecues and hiking!
You are beginning to get out there with bare legs and sleeveless tops, not to mention bathing suits and bikinis!
Here are some suggestions to get and keep your skin in good shape:
Overall exfoliation. That includes arms, elbows, knees. You can do this mechanically by using a loofah sponge, soft brush or facecloth. Do this before showering. Especially on those lower legs that tend to be very dry. The Clarisonic Brush is a superb way to exfoliate in a gentle way and can be used in the shower and all body parts. Use it with our exfoliating Glycolic Cleanser or Herbal Salicylic Cleanser for oily or acneic skin.
Exfoliate - aggressively. Get that facial skin in good shape with a few microdermabrasion treatments at our clinic. We can do a lactic acid mini-peel before the microdermabrasion for no extra cost. This will help smooth and improve the tone of your skin.
Do a weekly, or monthly exfoliating peel with a Papaya and Pineapple Mask, a Cranberry Enzyme Mask, or a Pumpkin Mask. These are great maintenance treatments you can do at home and you will even out the tone (color), soften and smooth your skin while you read in bed or watch TV - do it at the same time you do your nails! -- ***Avoid apricot scrubs which are made from apricot pits and seeds. The microfragments are abrasive and can actually irritate the skin and inflict micro-scratches.***
- Cream mask softens skin through enzymatic exfoliation
- Papaya and Pineapple enzymes dissolve dead skin, sebum and dirt
- Helps even skin tone and texture
- Overnight use can help soften calloused hands and feet
Improve the look of your "décolleté". This area is sebum rich, but the skin is very thin and usually is one of the worst areas of sun damage. Be sure to moisturize, sunblock and use vitamin C cream in this area. For a more thorough improvement of this area, we do Intense Pulsed Light procedures that improves the color, tone and texture significantly.
Prevent Keratosis Pilaris! These are hard small, red bumps that often occur on the back of arms, and on the front of thighs - especially during the winter. Hard plugs form and block the hair follicles. It's difficult to "cure" these but regular exfoliation, that includes agents that soften the keratinized plugs will go a long way to preventing this condition. Ask us about products that can help with this.
