Our June Skin Tips will present some points that you may not have thought of regarding sun exposure and the damage it can do.
- Skin cancer is no longer rare for people in their 20s, 30s and 40s. This coincides with the increased availability of tanning beds since the 1980s. Melanoma is the 3rd leading cancer in women under 49. Ultraviolet rays are what causes skin cancer. Tanning beds can emit Ultraviolet Rays up to 12 times more powerful than from the sun. BOTTOM LINE: DO NOT USE TANNING BEDS!
- Tinted sunscreens with zinc oxide or titanium dioxide can provide coverage while preventing exposure to UV rays. We stock Epionce Daily Shield Lotion Tinted SPF 50 - $38.00. This provides excellent UV protection and a light layer of coverage - perfect for summer!
- UV exposure is definitely a factor when riding in a car. It comes in from the car windows. There are clear window films you can apply to car windows to block out 99% of UVA rays and won't hinder night vision. Remember UV exposure is cumulative and effects may be delayed for many years. Window films are especially helpful for children to limit their lifetime exposure.
